Just dropped back in to tell you that I have, indeed, given copperplate another try and I am making progress--FINALLY!
I still have a long way to go, of course, but I now have control over the thicks and thins (an oblique pen holder made all the difference in the world for me!) and the right nibs (Brause 66EF and Gillot 303 and 404 are my favorites) helped so much.
Maybe someday I'll share a small piece with you as thanks for inspiring me to try again instead of giving up.

You have single handedly inspired me to give copperplate another try!
Such beautiful lettering! If I could ever produce a piece like that, I would call myself a calligrapher!
Thank you Kim, but this is just fooling around, which is what I do most of the time :)
Hey, Dave,

thanks, Kim, I'm sure you'll enjoy this artform, and let me know if I can help you along.
Be sure to check out the Ornamental Penmanship link for access to lots of great instruction and inspiration.
Happy Thanksgiving, Dave!
That's a link to a small piece I did today. (I DID tell you I'd share my progress with you someday!)
I still have far to go, but I've come a long way and no longer despair of ever learning copperplate.
Thanks again for your inspiration!
